Local Towns and Villages

Branscombe - Our Local Village

A short drive or 3 mile walk from us along the coast path takes you down to beautiful Branscombe beach, popular with walkers, swimmers, paddle boarders and kayakers alike. You could even try out the woodfired sauna.  Stop for lunch or an ice cream in the Sea Shanty Beach Cafe then meander back up through the village past the chocolate box cottages and St Winifred’s Church. Stop for a drink or bite to eat in The Masons Arms (booking essential).

South West Coast Path

We are perfectly located to head out for a walk on the South West Coast Path, with plenty of options that we would be more than happy to share with you on your arrival for whatever length or difficulty of walk you wish to pursue. Particular favourites are walking to Weston mouth and back, Branscombe to Beer and back, or for the adventurous a challenging hilly walk to Sidmouth.

Beer Beach

Visit the quaint fishing village of Beer a 10 minute drive away or walk from Branscombe. Full of small independent shops and beach cafés. In summer maybe hire a self drive boat off the beach - whether you go fishing or not it’s a lovely spot to go out to sea. Lovely in the morning in particular though take note in the evening that the sun tends to set a lot earlier.

Lyme Regis

A favourite with visitors hoping to get a taste of the Jurassic coast - maybe have a go at fossil hunting. Take a walk through the gardens or out “The Cobb” (the harbour wall). Plenty of pubs and restaurants although booking recommended. Head to Bell Cliff for a good old fashioned fry up.
